Sound Waves

Sound waves are defined as the “Transfer of Energy” from a vibrating object. Sound waves are mechanical waves which means they can only travel through matter and not empty space. Sound waves are longitudinal waves and move using the vibration of molecules. Sound waves travel faster in warm air due to the warm air molecules being faster to vibrate, hence transferring the energy faster.
